2006-08-17 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: well, anacondas regularly reach lengths of 33 feet, and live in the amazon (south america) not the congo (africa). and anacondas have no creditable record of eating humans (though pets and pigs are known to be fair prey) Reticulated Pythons (Australia), however, do have a record of eating humans, but they seldom get so big in the wild anymore, because their skin is valued for boots, belts, etc, and they are of course, viewed as a threat by most people.

2006-08-18 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: well, some snakes are aggressive, and require no provocation (egyptian cobras come to mind,they are known to chase people for no reason,and they are fast, over 14 mph.) but most are rather shy, esp. venomous ones. venom is too "expensive" to manufacture to just be wasting it on airplane passengers

Gaboons, have the longest fang (over 2 inches) and are tied with the boomslang for most toxic bite for a land snake.... and they usually won't bite even when threatened... you have to tick them off really bad, they are quite docile. people will say all sorts of things out of fear, and you can tell a snakeophobic person a mile away by their words...

2006-08-20 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: i think i may have been a bit misinformed. but what i found is that pit tagging is Passive integraded transponder (a little microchip identifying individuals, kind of like they use on dogs so they aren't stolen) a little device the size of a grain of rice injected through the belly... what i find says it's not usually a problem, but i could see how someone could accidentally puncture organs doing something like that...

2006-08-21 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: yeah, like any medical things, it all depends on if the person Actually knows what they are doing. they do things like that to dogs, especially show dogs that might get stolen, but if i recall, its usually done in the skin on the ear, not fatal if its messed up.

i think doctors aught to lose the practice permits after they have a serious malpractice suit... thats why they are so expensive, malpractice insurance.
2006-08-22 [clownsies]: I agree 100%...a lot of animals have died just from the doctors/vets not concentrating, not listening, angry for one reason or another, or because they have some illness which makes their hands shake. That's what gets me. These doctors and such have these problems that could nearly/kill an animal or human being!
2006-08-22 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: or just because they are stupid...i went througha bunch of bullsh*t about seizures because i blck out on ocassion (instead of doing a blood pressure or holter test, they ordered MRI's and EEG's) then when i had a blackout during the EEG, they failed utterly to make any record of it, and said it is a kind of atypical siezure. if they had bothered to check my blood pressure, i'm sure it was in the basement (90/72, sometimes) but they never even considered those possibilities.
2006-08-22 [Night Rider]: A blood pressure drop won't always cause seziures mine was 80/? after a car accident and i was fully aware of the pain in my side. I did go into shock but for a completly different reason. Seziures can be caused by low blood sugar that is what happens to my sis if hers goes to low

2006-11-08 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: i'm getting worried about her though. she sems to have lost her appetite. she was accustomed to 1 live rat, every week (until the vet told me to cut it back to 10-14 days) but this last week, i have been unable to entice her to eat a rat, live or dead, colored or albino (color was never a problem beofre, and i have been unable to locate bites after any of her feedings.) any advice?
2006-11-08 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: she shows no signs of ill health otherwise. she is still active, does not have rot mouth, is healthy weight, no mites or other visible problems... didn't even have intestinal parasite when she went to the vets. she lives in a glass tank with a temperature gradient of 77-89 degrees fahrenheit (i think thats 26-33 centigrade approximately) she has a clean water dish and a hide box... she used to have coconut fiber substrate until the vet recommended i switch to newspaper or washable terrarium rugs. she stopped eating shortly after i changed to the washable rugs...
2006-11-08 [Sauron]: I have no clue about snakes, but I think maybe you should try again the unwashable rugs and see what happens. Maybe its something about the materials or something (as weird as it might sound).
2006-11-08 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: well, when i changed to the rugs, i am unable to get the snake-excreta odor out of the tank no matter how hard i scrub or with what. i never had that problem with the coconut fiber stuff. it never stank, and stayed clean as long as i kept up with it. i'm switching back soon,

2006-12-06 [Nyaah*]: its simply called "black eyed ball" i think. actually it is only an "leucistic". well.. it is all about the colour genes. melanin is responseble for the black pigments. so, that is the colour which is lost in an albino,it has only the yellow colour, so it is a-melanistic, like "anti" melanistic! im not quite sure about the leucistic, but i guess its the same. they dont have any colours at all, only black eyes. the normal snowball, the one with red eyes is "amelanistic" (because the black pigments like in an albino is lost) AND "axantic" (axantic means the yellow pigmets are lost)..

2006-12-14 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: well, many of the people i know who speak english as a second language say it's difficult, including my spanish teacher (whose first language was portugese). who knows, a lot depends on the individual. it has so many rules, and so mane exceptions compared to other languages.

ur ball doesnt eat? hmm well... mine sometimes doesnt eat.. they are fasting for some weeks sometimes.. no problem! she will start eating again in a few weeks im sure!
2006-12-30 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: well, her last meal was the tenth of november. and that was a small mouse for a snake about 1.25 meters. she looks interested in the mouse or rat i offer her, but never strikes.
2006-12-30 [Nyaah*]: hmmm i got a new 1 year old female and she didnt eat in the beginning.. first i waited, i thought she needs some time but she didint eat.. so i got a small plastic tank. only big enough to put a small hiding place and a little water jar init! nothing on the grond, only some newspaper if you want.. there you keep her for some days, and then in the evenning when she gets awake you put a mouse inside and wait for 15 minutes! try it a few times it ALWAYS worked with my snakes! i have no clue why but it works!

2006-12-30 [Nyaah*]: i always worked for me! when i started feeding the baby balls on of them didnt eat for weeks! and it started to look meager, i thought its going to die. then i tryed the smaler tank thing, and it worked! let her in the tank,indulge her in rest for some days! and then put a mouse into it and see what happens!

2007-01-03 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: well, i put her and her hide-cave in a small cardboard box, no substrate, only a small water dish. she's been in there two days, and today finally ate! it's a small mouse, but it's something. i have been holding onto two mice and a rat for her, i'm tired of feeding them.

2007-01-04 [Heathglen]: I took my snake to the vet yesterday. Looks as if the tip of his tail is going to fall off.
The climite is so dry here that it's hard for him to shed properly, so the tail tip has never come off. Needless to say that it's cut off the blood flow.
So needless to say I've got the humidifer cranked up to "rainforest" setting now.

2007-01-04 [Heathglen]: No, the rest of him comes off fine. It's just the very tip of his tail. It's never seemed to bother him though.

2007-01-04 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: one of my friends has a redtail, and insufficient humidity, the skin on the tip of her tail never sheds either. it is festering and almost rancid, but the vet gave him some wound healing oil for the tail and advised frequent lukewarm baths, and humidity as high as it can be. he said it was still salvageable.

2007-01-07 [beautiful _ darkness]: I want a snake so bad, they are so beautiful and wonderful. I dont know what kind of snake I want plus I have to wait like a year before I can get one cause my mom doesnt want a snake in her house. Acctually the amusing thing is less then a year ago I was deathly afraid of snakes now they are one of my favorite animals.

2007-01-08 [Heathglen]: Albino's tend to be super expensive. Plus everybody seems to want them. Not me. I find the red eyes unnerving.
2007-01-08 [Nyaah*]: albino ballpython used to me my favorit.but since there are so many other morphs my favorit changed :P though i still like them, because they are so diffrent and look so alien like. but i wouldnt like to have only an albino, i like the mix, the diffrences, so an albino and an natural ball would be really cool i think!(and ball albions are (for me) one of the affordable morphs.. the others cost 1500 and upward! )

since i could start breeding with it in the next winter already. and if i get an spider somewhen and i put spider and jungle together i get bumble bees which cost about 8000€ at the momment... *MONEYYYY*
this one costs alot too, but i could afford it. if i breed this to a normal i get 50% jungles(which i can sell for about 900€ for one) and 50% normals
